Community-based testing sites are available to anyone to get tested, regardless of symptoms or other criteria. No appointment, doctor referral, or insurance is needed at state operated drive-thru sites and testing is available at no cost to the individual.
Walk-Ups
The Waukegan Community Based Testing Site (CBTS) is now accepting walk-ups.Walkers should enter off of Genesee Street and follow the line marked by orange cones.
Drive-Thru
If arriving by car, anyone who will be tested must be seated at a functioning window. Once you get in line at the CBTS, you will not be permitted to exit your car.

While this is a free service, you will be asked to show photo identification.
Due to the demand for this service, there could be significant wait times associated with the drive-thru community-based testing site. Please be patient. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, you are urged to call your doctor or emergency department to seek immediate care and instructions.

COVID-19 testing is available by appointment for symptomatic Community Health Center patients. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. A telehealth screening must be completed to determine if testing criteria are met.

However, please note that while the State’s testing criteria is easing, individual providers and testing sites may have limited availability of tests or different criteria for testing if they are using a private lab.
